Hello! Absolutely understandable if the answer is no, but I was just curious if you'd ever allow for someone to use your art as a tattoo if they paid you a commission price for it. I’m very glad you enjoy that piece; that series is still a personal favorite of mine. The short answer to your question is yes, that is perfectly fine with me, and I’m flattered by the request. But I am also going to take this chance to elaborate for any other interested parties, since you’re actually not the first to ask!

So long as you check with me first and credit your source:

1. Anyone who wants my fanart for personal use (tattoos, printed out, etc.) is welcome to.

2. This should be a given, but also anyone who wants to riff off of my ideas is welcome to create their own fanart incorporating those ideas.

Crediting is self-explanatory, but one reason I ask for people to ask me first is so that I can offer higher res versions of my artworks on a case-by-case basis — so if you are looking to use my art as a reference for a tattoo, please feel free to DM for that.

I don’t charge for use of my fanart right now (and probably never will) but if you feel like giving something I do have a Ko-fi and lots of art ambitions that could use extra funding.

Ok, me and n1cot3n (my dyslexia thought the name was Nicole, lol) have talked about this over insta, cause I missed this ask here on tumblr... So this is mostly for other people wanting to use my art for stuff.

There's like a 95% chance I will allow you to use my art as long as you:

1. Ask for permission and tell me what you want to use it for. Message/DM me, don't do this on an ask cause I sometimes don't get notified about asks.

2. Give me propper credit. N1co for excample wrote "pfp julia_jck_" on their insta bio. If it's for a post, I want the creddit to be the first thing you write on the post description. Doing an @ is even better.

3. I also won't allow my art to be used for AI. I know that insta, for excample, is now using our posts for AI, but I know it's also not really something we can control... And I haven't decided anything for AI Chat profile pics as it is a little harder to even give cred there and idk if they use the pics for AI or not...

Yes, of course! ^-^ I'm more than happy for people to use my art for whatever, as long as they're not selling it or something.

I reserve the right to ask for it to be taken down if my ONE exception is met, but until it happens, don't worry about it.

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.
